We have learned that while everyone starts at 750 power, including New Light players, a relic of the last two years of power gains, but also that as you level to 900, you will be getting drops that are essentially always power upgrades for those 150 levels. They have a self/team-healing rift ability that comes in handy often, but they may have a higher skill cap than other classes if you’re just starting out. Warlocks – Accused of being “floofy” with their hover jump, Warlocks are known as having their heads in the clouds in Destiny lore as scholars, but they’re quite good in combat and have been an incredibly strong class for most of Destiny’s duration. They’re pure brute force in mind and body. They’re focused more on defensiveness than other classes with their shield supers and barricade class ability, and they have one subclasses devoted entirely to hitting things with hammers, throwing hammers at things. Titans – Have very lofty vertical “jet pack” jump, and really enjoy punching things. This is my personal recommendation for many new players, but when I put this to a vote, people chose Titan. Their playstyle and lore has them more solo-based, even if this is a heavily team-based game. They can dodge mid-fight to avoid damage or reload their weapon. Hunters – Have the most “normal” jumping style if you’ve never played Destiny before with their standard double and triple jumps.
And yet you may find that if you’re running a “main,” as most people only have time to seriously invest in one class, you may become intimately tied to it for the duration of the game, and become part of a certain “tribe” as a result. At least when you compare them to other class-based games like WoW or Diablo or even Anthem or Borderlands. On first glance, there may not seem to be all that much difference between Destiny 2’s three classes, Hunter, Titan and Warlock.
